Mortal Kombat 2021 is the movie that I finally got to see this weekend. And my thoughts on it are as follows. I liked it but I do have my complaints about it too. The movie was just ok to me. The action was good and it looked nice but it would have looked better if Sub-Zero was not freezing everything. The story was ok as well. After watching it, I don’t feel connected to the characters, I don’t feel interested in their stories. When I think back on it I thought that Scorpion would play a larger part in the movie instead of a spot at the beginning and end of the movie. It makes me think that Scorpion was just a way to link the past to the present. It is almost like two movies came together to make one.
What is Scorpion’s past what has he been doing in the afterlife? Why hasn’t he gone crazy or found some peace in all of this time? So I watch a lot of anime and I often get these answers in the story or it will come in a prequel series that will focus on these characters to help develop their stories. After all of this, I am satisfied with the movie and I am happy that the movie was left open for a sequel.
Overall I was not that moved by the movie. I saw it but it is kinda forgettable to me, it was not a bad move but it just did not work for me. But when the sequel comes out I will go watch it. I want to see where this story will go and how the writers plan on evolving the story for the next movie.
